Vienna – It remains very mild in Austria. From Tuesday, however, the weather will become more unsettled and somewhat more remarkable, is the forecast of the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG), which merged with the Geological Survey (GBA) to form “GeoSphere Austria” (GSA).

Over the lowlands and some valleys, there will be tenacious and high fog on Monday. Otherwise, the sun will shine with only thin, high clouds. Clouds will not move into the west until later in the evening. The wind will be mostly light to moderate, but in the mountains and north of them partly foehny from the south. Early temperatures: minus two to plus seven degrees, daytime highs: depending on fog or sun, four to 15 degrees.

Tuesday: With the passage of a disturbance from the west, it will be mostly cloudy to overcast; only in the north and east will the sunshine be for a longer time from noon on. In the west, a little rain from early in the morning; during the day, the light precipitation spreads eastward, especially along the mountains. The snow line will be between 1,500 and 1,800 meters above sea level. The wind from the west will temporarily freshen moderately to briskly in the Danube region and the Vienna Woods. Early temperatures: minus one to plus seven degrees, daily highs: four to eleven degrees.

Thursday will be windy.
Wednesday: In the lowlands, some foggy air will accumulate, especially in the first hours will be partly cloudy. In most parts of the country, however, the sun will prevail during the day, and only individual fog zones, such as in the basins in the south or places in the eastern lowlands, will remain persistent. Winds near the ground will be light but could increase from the west by evening—early temperatures: minus three to plus three degrees, daytime highs: about three to twelve degrees.

Very windy weather is expected on Thursday. Remnants of a front will bring even heavier clouds and frequent rain or at least some showers, especially along the northern side of the Alps. The snow line will hover around 1,600 meters above sea level. In the eastern lowlands, only isolated rain showers are expected, and in between, the sun will appear briefly from time to time. In the south and southeast, it will also be more stable. Over the northern half, a brisk to solid westerly wind will blow. Early temperatures: minus five to plus seven degrees; daily highs: mostly five to twelve degrees plus.

With the departing front, there will be clouds again and again on Friday, especially in the north and east, but only isolated short showers. Finally, the sun will come out more often. It will remain windy; in the Danube region, a brisk to solid westerly wind will continue to blow. With the mixing of the air layers by the wind, it will again be exceptionally mild during the day. Early temperatures: minus five to plus eight degrees; daytime highs: four to 15 degrees.
